What’s Your Faith Story?

Message Summary:

In Sunday’s message, Pastor John Carter continued to teach us about the power of faith in the life of a believer. It is one thing to believe that God exists, but it is another to believe that he actively wants to reward and bless those who love him and seek Him. Faith in God pleases Him. And He loves to reward His children who have learned to walk by faith. And to do that, we have to better understand how faith works and operates.

Faith has a voice. Faith must be confessed and spoken out of your mouth. When you speak what God’s word out of your mouth, you begin the first stage of manifesting the promises and blessings that God want to release into your life. There is a connection between what you believe in your heart and what you say with your mouth. Faith must be spoken to be released. And what do we speak by faith? The word of God. Romans 10:17 tells us that “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” We need to be in the word, because faith literally comes through the word of God. As we study the scriptures and speak, faith comes through the Words and it fills us with faith to stand and believe for God’s promises. The Word fills us with the faith to believe the Word. And the more time we spend in the word, the more our faith grows.

Faith needs a voice! Faith does not come until it is spoken. You can talk yourself or coach yourself into a place of faith! Because when you speak the word of God, it fills you with faith. The spirit of faith believes what is written, and then speaks. It is not enough to just hear it or read it; faith must be released. We release it by speaking the word of God. And once we release the power of the Word out of our mouth by faith, we activate the Word and commission it to go into action in our lives. We align our words of faith with our faith in the Word of God to do what it said it will do. We must both believe and speak the word of God before we even see in come to pass. We must speak what we believe regardless of what we see in front of us! Our faith calls that “thing that be not as though it were.” Our faith calls the promises of God to manifest and align our circumstances with His glorious reality.

Scriptures:

  • [Hebrews 11:1-3, 6 NKJV] 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. 3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible… 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

  • [Romans 10:8-10 NKJV] 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

  • [Romans 10:17 NKJV] 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

  • [2 Corinthians 4:13 NKJV] 13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak…

Discussion Questions:

  1. What did Pastor mean when he said, “Faith has a voice?”

  2. Why does faith have to be spoken and confessed? Why does faith need our voice?

  3. What is the connection between what you believe and what you speak?

  4. Why do we need to speak what we have faith for, before we see it come to pass?

  5. How does faith release God’s promises into our lives?

Life Application:

As you study the key scriptures over the next week, examine your life and consider this: Are you confessing your faith? You must speak your faith. Faith needs a voice! To activate the blessings and promises of God in your life, you need to speak your faith and call those things that be not as though they are. And be consistent! Don’t let disbelief or doubt commandeer your mouth. You need your mouth and your words to align with His words! Get your language shifts and infuse your faith into your voice!
