Faith Walk

Message Summary:

In Sunday’s message, Pastor Pascale Williams taught us about our confession of faith. As believers, we must let our prayers be formed and rooted in the scriptures. Our confession of faith takes place when our words agree and align with the words of scripture. We must understand first the different types of confession that we find in the Word of God.

Different Types of Confession:

  1. Confession of Jesus Christ as Lord – When we confess that we need a savior to save us.

  2. Confession of Sin – When we confess that we were wrong and that we need forgiveness.

  3. Confession of Faults to Another – When we confess our needs to another member of the body and agree together around the promises of the Word to bring healing.

  4. Confession of Faith and Expectation – When we confess God’s Word to manifest the many promises of God to walk in victory against the enemy.

To speak the confession of faith, we need to know the best ways to confess God’s Word, why God needs us to confess His Word, and the potential impact of God’s people unified around God’s spoken Word. God’s spoken Word is the highest form of reality. And we can speak the Word of God to change the misalignment of our natural reality in front of us to align with God’s perfect reality. We must speak the Word to our natural conditions because God’s perfect conditions exist, just waiting to manifest. When a believer uses their authority to release the spoken Word, they are releasing God's perfect, already existing conditions to manifest and change what we see in front of us. That is why when we “call those things that do not exist as though they did” (Rom. 4:17), we are not lying! We are aligning our words with the reality of God’s promises that we know exist. We need to speak the Word of God until we see the manifestation of His promises in front of us.

That is why we have to be careful with our words. We have to be careful not to allow unclean words that do not align with God’s Word to leave our mouths. Because when we mix words of faith (the word of God) with unclean words of doubt, fear, or unbelief, we endanger the power of God’s spoken Word to work in our lives. We need accountability. We need to partner with other believers who share our authority and will stand with us in faith for God’s promises to manifest in our lives. Be careful who you align your faith with! Make sure you stand in faith with others who will stand strong and steady with you in prayer.

Scriptures:

  • [Ephesians 6:17-18 NKJV] 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints…

  • [Hebrews 10:23 NKJV] 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

  • [1 Timothy 6:12 NKJV] 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

  • [2 Corinthians 4:18 NKJV] 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen [are] temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Discussion Questions:

  1. What is the confession of faith, and how does it rely on the Word of God?

  2. Why should we pray to the Word of God?

  3. What are the benefits of praying God’s Word?

  4. What is the danger of speaking “unclean” or “mixed” words?

  5. Why do you need to be careful who you partner in prayer with?

Life Application:

As you study the key scriptures over the next week, examine your life and consider this: Examine the words of your mouth. Are you mixing your words? Are you speaking in faith and in doubt at the same time? How do you need to change the way you speak? Are you speaking the word of God and His promises over your life? Who do you need to partner with in this season? Who will hold you accountable to stand firmly in faith as you believe for God’s Word to manifest in your life? It is the season to take control of your mouth!
